The college offers one of the best libraries in the polytechnic college in the state of Kerala.The library is an fully automated library .The mission of the college library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organisation and dissemination of knowledge resources and provide value added services.The library situated in in the ground floor of the college main building. It has an excellent collection of books,journals, periodicals, CDs and non book materials in the field of science and technology and general books etc.

Arrangement of Collection

Books are classified and arranged as per Dewy Decimal Classification (DDC), a scientific scheme of classification. This type of arrangement will help to keep the books on the same subject together with those on related subjects comings next to them. Open access facility is provided in the library to help the reader browsing the stack and selecting the books of his choice.

RFID Implementation in the Library

The Library has recently implemented the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system. It is the best automated library automation system used world wide and is an effective way of managing collections of the library and providing enhanced services to the users having benefits like: self check-out of books, self-check-in (book drop), to control theft, to find misplaced reading material, sorting, inventory accuracy, stock verification procedures, security control, video surveillance, people counter, Smart Card issuance, etc. It is an automatic data capture technology that uses tiny microchips and miniature antennas affixed to documents. RFID plays a vital role in redefining the library processes to make everyone's job easier right from the users to library staff.

Circulation System

For circulation of documents 'Automated Self Service Kiosk' is installed in the library which enables users to issue, return and renew books by themselves. Kiosk is operational from 8:30AM to 5:30PM . For each transaction, Kiosk generates the receipt with details of documents transacted and due dates. To make use of automated Kiosk service, users need to get their fingerprint recorded once at the Circulation Desk during library working hours. Please note that Kiosk will not allow users to get books issued if their library account quota is already full. It will also not allow for renewal of overdue books and books having reservations. Security Sensor Gates are installed at the exit which sounds buzzer on passing of un-barrowed books. Premises covering Kiosk and Sensor Gates are being continuously recorded with DVR camera for security reasons.

Library Infrastructure

Ma'din Polytechnic College Library manages knowledge, both in print and digital formats. It has an excellent well equipped air conditioned Library having computer network enabled with WiFi for accessing Library. Library is fully automated with the help of RFID technology.


All students, and staff of the institute are entitled to register as members of the library and to use the facilities & services offered for the purpose of their academic, research and administrative work. Use of library facilities and services implies acceptance of its rules and procedures.

Borrowing Privileges

  • Students : 3 Books for 15 Days
  • Teaching Staff : 5 Books for 30 Days
  • Non teaching Staff : 5 Books for 30 Days

Late Fee for overdue books for all category of users

  • Rs. 2/- per day per book 7 days after due date.
  • Rs. 4/- per day per book 8-14 days after due date.
  • Rs. 10/- per day per book 14 days from the due date.

Library Hours

  • Monday to Friday : 8.30am to 5.30pm
  • Saturday : 9am to 4pm.
  • Sunday and other public holiday, the library will be closed.

The electronic content may be stored locally, or accessed remotely via computer networks. An electronic library is a type of information retrieval system.
